The way people consume content is evolving. Earlier, reading was the primary method, followed by the rise of podcasts and video formats.
In fact, today, podcasts are leading the charge, offering deeper, conversational engagement that fits seamlessly into busy lives.
Globally, the popularity of podcasts is increasing, with millions of episodes available across diverse topics. There are over 546 million podcast listeners worldwide. In fact, 47% of people in the US aged 12+ listen to podcasts at least once a month.
In 2024 alone, the global podcast ad spending has reached $4.02 billion. Also, video podcasts are on the rise, with 33% of US listeners opting for watchable podcasts. Platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts are leading the way.
By 2027, the number of podcast listeners worldwide are expected to hit 651.7 million.
At DAiOM, we’ve observed this shift firsthand. Over the past year, we’ve published over 40 blogs across topics like omnichannel, AI, and MarTech. However, capturing and retaining attention has been a challenge.
That’s when we explored how we could improve our blogs and connect with our audience in a more dynamic way. This inspired us to experiment with converting our blogs into podcasts, making them more accessible and engaging for our audience.
After creating the first few podcasts, the response from our audience has been positive as we have received good feedback from listeners who appreciate the flexibility that podcasts offer.
Here’s a breakdown of how turning our blogs into podcasts worked for us, the challenges we faced, what we learned along the way, and how you can also benefit from it.
People are really listening and want to consume all of the content that is there and available. There’s a level of dedication that comes from podcast listeners that you don’t otherwise find. And now the numbers prove it. Podcasts aren’t a bubble; they’re a boom — and that boom is only getting louder.

1. Why Are Podcasts Gaining Momentum?
Podcasts are gaining momentum because they fit perfectly with today’s content consumption habits, offering flexibility, a conversational tone, and deeper engagement.
They cater to a wide range of audiences, with Millennials and Gen Z making up 61.6% of US listeners, and 59% of people aged 12-34 listening monthly.
Podcasts also appeal to older age groups, with 55% of Americans aged 35-54 and 27% of those 55+ tuning in regularly. In terms of gender, 51% of listeners are male, 48% are female, and 1% are non–binary, showcasing the broad appeal across demographics.
Here are some more reasons why they’re resonating so well:
- Flexibility: Podcasts allow people to listen while commuting, exercising, or doing chores, making it easy to fit into any schedule.
- Conversational Tone: Unlike traditional blogs or videos, podcasts have a personal, engaging feel that makes listeners feel like they’re part of a conversation, building a stronger connection.
- Deep Engagement: Podcast listeners tend to stay tuned in for longer periods, allowing content creators to share more detailed and comprehensive insights.
- Broad Accessibility: With platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Podcasts, audiences from all walks of life can easily access content at their convenience, making it widely available to a global audience.
2. How AI Can Help You Build Podcasts?
Creating podcasts can feel overwhelming, but there are AI tools that can help transform written content into audio formats quickly and efficiently.
Notebook LLM by Google is one such efficient AI tool that supports the conversion of blogs into engaging audio content. The tool has helped us produce high-quality podcasts without needing a large production team.
Podcast platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts make it easy to reach a global audience, ensuring that your content is accessible to listeners wherever they are.
With the ability to listen anytime, podcast consumption is much more flexible than traditional blog reading, allowing for broader and more frequent engagement with your content.
This shift in content delivery can help you build a loyal audience and extend your reach to diverse markets. Here’s how AI simplifies the process:
- Efficient Conversion: Notebook LLM quickly converted our blog content into conversational podcast scripts, saving time and effort.
- Dynamic Formats: They bring written content to life by adding conversational elements, making it more engaging.
- Scalability: With AI, you can produce podcasts consistently without needing a large team or extensive resources.
If you’re exploring podcasting, tools like Notebook LLM can simplify the journey and enhance your content strategy. While we found Notebook LLM highly efficient, it had some limitations:
- The voice options are limited to one male and one female voice, which makes customization a challenge.
- Multi-language support is missing—a major opportunity for markets like India where bilingual content (e.g., English + Hindi) is popular.
- The format feels uniform across podcasts, lacking options for distinct customization.
- Classification or categorization tools for podcasts aren’t robust, making it harder to diversify content styles.
However, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited to continue exploring the potential of AI in podcasting.
3. How Turning Blogs into Podcasts is Benefitting Our Audience?
Turning our blogs into podcasts has been beneficial for both us and our audience. While our approach is about offering content in a new format; it’s also about making it more accessible, engaging, and easier to consume for our readers.
Here’s how this transformation has benefited our audience:
- Accessible On-the-Go Content: Our listeners can now listen to our podcasts during their daily commutes, workouts, or even while multitasking at home. This has made it easier for them to stay updated with our blog insights without the need for dedicated reading time.
- Engagement Boost: By converting written content into audio, we’ve reached a wider audience—especially those who may not have had the time to read long blogs. It’s a great way to engage both visual and auditory learners.
- Deeper Understanding: The conversational tone of our podcasts has allowed our audience to connect with the content on a deeper level. Instead of reading, they absorb key insights while multitasking, making the learning process more seamless.
- More Frequent Content Consumption: Podcasts have made it easier for our audience to engage with our content consistently. The convenience of audio has led to more frequent interactions, as listeners are more likely to tune in regularly.
4. How This Experiment Changed Our Approach?
As a company who has worked extensively with publishing long-form blogs, we can honestly say this experiment has been a game-changer.
While we still believe in the power of long-form written content, we’ve found that diversifying into podcast formats has allowed us to reach our audience in more meaningful ways.
Here’s how it’s changed our approach:
- Efficiency in Content Creation: We can efficiently convert long-form content into podcast scripts, saving time in the process. Instead of starting from scratch, we can repurpose existing content, giving it new life in an audio format. This is a great way to maximize the value of each piece of content we create.
- Improved Audience Connection: The voice behind the content has made a big difference. When listeners hear someone speaking directly to them, it builds a stronger connection. We found it fascinating to hear my own voice narrating the blog posts we had written, and the feedback from the team has been equally positive.
- More Dynamic Content: This experiment has shown us that content doesn’t have to stay static. By turning written blogs into podcasts, we’ve made our content more dynamic and adaptable. It can now be consumed in different formats, meeting the preferences of various segments of our audience.
- Increased Reach and Accessibility: Podcasts are an excellent way to extend our reach. Platforms like SoundCloud and Spotify make it easy for people to find and share content, which has helped us grow our audience. Additionally, the accessibility of podcasts ensures that people from different backgrounds, time zones, and schedules can consume our content when it’s most convenient for them.
5. Key Learnings from Turning Our Blogs Into Podcasts
Turning our blogs into podcasts has taught us a lot, both about the value of diversifying our content formats and the importance of listening to our audience’s needs.
Here are some key takeaways:
- Content Should Evolve: The way we consume content is always changing, and it’s important for brands to stay agile and adapt. If we stuck to just blogs, we might have missed out on an entire audience segment that prefers podcasts.
- Test and Iterate: This journey has been a learning process. Not everything worked perfectly at first, but we kept experimenting with how to best present our content. This mindset of continuous improvement is key to growing any successful content strategy.
- Know Your Audience: Understanding how your audience wants to consume content is crucial. In our case, many of our followers prefer quick, digestible formats like podcasts. By paying attention to these preferences, we’ve been able to provide more value.
You just need one person to listen, get your message, and pass it on to someone else. And you’ve doubled your audience.
